Frequently Asked Questions

The need for short-term rehabilitation can happen instantly. At Crawford Health Care and Rehabilitation, we not only provide short-term rehabilitation but also long-term care and living services. If you haven't visited us before, we want to help answer your questions and are also happy to offer you a tour of our center. It's important to remember that you have a choice when it comes to choosing your rehabilitation care for you or your loved ones. We invite you to consider Crawford for your post-surgical, illness, or injury recovery.

What is short-term rehabilitation?

Short-term rehabilitation, also known as skilled rehabilitation or post-acute care, is designed to help you recover faster after a hospital stay so you won’t require a repeat hospital stay or because you are unable to safely assume life at home. At Crawford, you would go to our onsite therapy gym one or more times a day for physical, occupational or speech therapy, depending on what your personal doctor prescribes. Our team will be in regular contact with you, your family and doctor(s) during your stay.

How long does short-term rehabilitation last?

Your length of stay depends on why you’re receiving rehabilitation care. Some people recovering from a knee replacement may need only a week or so of therapy, while someone recovering from a stroke may need more time. At Crawford, we will do our best to ensure medical care is provided no longer than needed to ensure a positive outcome for you.

Are Medicare, Medicaid or other payments accepted for short-term rehab?

Typically, Medicare coverage is provided for rehabilitation following an eligible hospital stay. Those without Medicare may find their stays are covered by managed care or private insurance. At Crawford, we accept most insurance, Medicare and Medicare Advantage plans, Medicaid, VA Contracts, Managed Care Plans, Long Term Care Insurance Policies, private pay, private insurance, worker's comp, and commercial insurance.

Do you provide transportation from the hospital?

We accept patients 24/7 at Crawford and are happy to schedule transportation from the surrounding region.

Is Crawford Health & Rehabilitation a nursing home?

At Crawford, we serve long-term care residents in a clean, friendly, and safe environment, but we also have a dedicated wing for Short-Term Rehabilitation. We offer private and semi-private rooms, all occupational, speech and physical therapy on site in our therapy gym, and you can rest knowing there are skilled nurses on site 24-hours a day if assistance is needed. We offer private in-room dining or you can join other residents in our spacious dining room. With a beautiful courtyard, recreation room, and multiple lounge areas, you're sure to be comfortable throughout your stay.

Do I qualify for Long Term Care Medicaid?

Several different factors go into an individual qualifying for Medicaid, including financial and medical. For more information regarding qualifying for Long Term Care Medicaid, please contact our business office at 479-474-6885.
